Prior to coming to Hopkins, I worked in the field of market research for Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates, and most recently, Harris Interactive. My experience is based in the design, implementation and analysis of primary quantitative and qualitative research studies for consumer product, political and pharmaceutical clients.
I'm interested in the field of behavior change communication (BCC) across health issues. I recently accepted an internship with the Center for Communication Programs (www.jhuccp.org) where I'll be working for the next 6 months on an impact evaluation of family planning BCC activities in northern India.
I chose Hopkins for many reasons:
+ Their innovative and interesting course offerings
+ The focus on quantitative research
+ The professors are the top of their field, and you can always find an answer to a question you have from the primary source or referral to an expert in the field
+ Hopkins offers an environment of collaboration; professor to student, student to professor, student to student - everyone is interested in helping one another
+ The connections you make while here and after you leave. This ties into my point above; I've gained a wealth of knowledge from my professors and peers, and professors are willing to help connect you with other professionals in your field of interest outside of the Hopkins community. I have found (and am still finding) that so many individuals in the world of public health have ties to the Hopkins community.
