Research Interests or Career Goals
Drug dependence epidemiology, with an interest in substance use in young persons. Specific projects have focused on alcohol use and alcohol problems in youths from Minnesota, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Additionally, I have examined the predictors of where adult injection drug users in Baltimore get their sterile needles used for injection. My dissertation focused on alcohol problems in adolescents. One of my projects will use the National Survey on Drug Use and Health.

Why I Chose Hopkins
The Bloomberg School of Public Health has one of the only departments of mental health in the country. One main focus of this department is substance abuse research, which is my primary research interest. It is just serendipitous luck that I happen to be from Baltimore and that there is a great school right here.
