Research Interests or Career Goals
My primary career goal is to become a successful researcher whose work directly contributes to improving health outcomes and reducing disparities in measures of access and quality for patients with chronic conditions. I want my future work to contribute to the implementation of federal and state policy legislation that improves health outcomes for chronic disease patients and influences healthcare decision-making that will improve delivery of care for vulnerable populations. I also plan to motivate and train future health services and policy researchers by pursuing a career in academia.
Why I Chose Hopkins
I decided to pursue doctoral training in Health Services Research and Policy at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health because I believe that the training I am receiving here will best enable me to achieve my career goals. In addition to being a well-respected and top-ranked program, faculty members here are currently conducting research directly related to improving health outcomes for patients with chronic conditions and developing policy interventions to address ethnic/racial disparities in measures of access, quality, and health outcomes. I am also excited about the work being conducted at the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology, and Clinical Research and the Hopkins Center for Health Disparities Solutions. The knowledge and mentorship that I am currently receiving here at Hopkins are vital to my development as a health services and policy researcher and as a future educator.
