Communicable Disease Service
Public Health Consultant 1 (Health Educator), Vaccine Preventable Disease Program
Salary: $58,750- $67,027
Description:
Under the direction of the Vaccine Preventable Disease Program Manager:
· Design, implement and manage studies related to the effectiveness of health education programs/campaigns for communicable diseases, especially those associated with vaccine preventable disease. Produce written reports to include recommendations and strategies to correct and improve existing and future health education campaigns/programs. Develop and implement new approaches and strategies to prevent and control vaccine preventable diseases.
· Develop and implement training modules (i.e., lectures, satellite courses) for use in training staff from DHSS and public health partners.
· Design web-based information/training programs for the public and healthcare professionals.
· Design educational materials, behavioral interventions, and social marketing strategies to educate and promote program goals.
· Function as a consultant to other state and local health departments/agencies on health education and program evaluations related to vaccine preventable disease. Participate in immunization-related councils, committees, etc. and work with public health partners to promote VPDP vaccination campaigns, develop materials specific to pandemic influenza.
· All of the above duties will be performed for H1N1 virus vaccine distribution campaigns throughout the influenza season.
· Certified Health Education Specialist Preferred.
Requirements:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree supplemented by a Masters of Public Health Education or Community Health Education.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in a large-scale community health and/or public health education program, one (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory and/or administrative capacity.
License: Appointee will be required to possess a drivers license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
