Communicable Disease Service
Vaccine Preventable Disease Program
H1N1 - Regional Staff Nurse/Medical Assistance
(Special Services - Hourly Paid Position)
Purpose: To act as a subject matter expert and point of contact for clinical management and infection control issues during the current 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic.
Job Duties:
Provide consultation and technical assistance to local health departments and medical providers in matters related to clinical management of patients suspected or confirmed to have influenza.
Provide consultation and technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders in matters related to infection control to prevent the spread of influenza within communities and health care settings.
Respond to questions from local health departments and medical providers.
Interact with other teams including epidemiology and surveillance to identify changes in severity of illness or new/different risk groups.
Monitor CDC web sites and participate in conference calls and meetings.
Develop guidance documents related to clinical management and infection control.
Provide consultation and technical assistance in matters related to seasonal and H1N1 vaccine and vaccination protocols and procedures.
Provide consultation and technical assistance related to anti-viral drug use.
May be called on to assist with emergency response activities outside of normal business hours.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree including or supplemented by successful completion of a curriculum in an approved school of nursing plus three years of experience as a professional Registered Nurse, which shall have included clinical nursing, practice in nursing supervision, nursing education, nursing management, or public health nursing. Two additional years of experience as specified above may be substituted for the bachelors degree. Applicants must possess a current license or be eligible for licensure as a professional Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Qualified candidates should possess a valid drivers license and have own transportation.
Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge and understanding of infectious disease and infectious disease reporting.
Understand the principles of disease investigation, control and prevention, isolation precautions and appropriate personal protective equipment.
$30.72 - $37.91 per hour commensurate with experience - NO BENEFITS
